A Christian NPU soldier stands at a highway checkpoint at the entrance to the predominately Christian town of Qaraqosh, Iraq. The NPU (Nineveh Plain Protection Units) is a military organization formed late in 2014, mostly by Assyrian Christians, to defend themselves against ISIS. (May 20, 2017)
