Migrants from various countries, including Syria and Iraq, camp out under an awning at the port in Mytilene, on the Greek island of Lesbos. They had arrived on Lesbos from Turkey, having paid smugglers a large amount of money to help them do the short but dangerous journey across the Aegean Sea. Here they wait to take a ferry to the Greek mainland to continue on to Germany and elsewhere.
