Early on a summer evening, a man prepares to fly a kite from atop the old city walls in Diyarbakir, Turkey. The famous walls, with numerous towers, gates, buttresses, and 63 inscriptions, and built of black basalt, stretch 5.8 kilometers around the old city. (June 5, 2017)
