Washington DC, USA - January 20, 2021: Patricia Fobbs, age 60, attends her first Presidential Inauguration. When I asked if I could take her picture, she replied -- softly, and with a cadence that was in no hurry, and a little grandmotherly -- "Oh, I don't mind at all."
I asked if she was from Washington DC. No, she was from New Orleans, and she had booked a ticket here as soon as it was clear that Biden and Harris had won the election. I asked why she wanted to come.
"It means so much to me that a black woman is becoming Vice President," she said.
