Riga, Latvia - August 23, 2015: Representations of the three Baltic countries wear traditional dress and hold their national flags in Riga, Latvia, during a 26th anniversary commemoration of the Baltic Way. Also called the Baltic Chain, the peaceful political demonstration took place on August 23, 1989. Approximately two million people held hands to form a human chain stretching 675.5 kilometres (419.7 mi) across Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, which at the time were part of the Soviet Union. For this anniversary, the Ukrainian flag was also invited.
