A sliver of moon hangs in the sky above the Angel of Independence Monument on Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City, Mexico. Officially known as Monumento a la Independencia, and more commonly called El Angel, it was built in 1910 to commemorate the centennial of the start of Mexico's War of Independence.
