An Israeli soldier uses a riot shield during a protest at the controversial Separation Barrier in the Palestinian village of Bilin. Since 2005, Bilin has been the site of a weekly demonstration against the barrier, which swallowed more than half of the village's land onto the Israeli side of the barrier. The International Court of Justice and Israeli human rights groups have condemned the route of the barrier since it often cuts deep into Palestinian territory.
